The world, and america in particular, is in a very interesting place, following the tragic death of george floyd, the most recent in a string of unjust actions on black americans. My heart hurts.. There are no words to describe the level of grief that many of us feel. As i write this, i feel overwhelmed with so many emotions. Hurt, anger, sadness, love, and the need to take action.
But now, the only thing that we can do is learn to do better and to be better. Learn not only from george floyd’s death, but the events that followed. Because one thing is certain, and that is we can no longer go on as we are. We, as a whole, must change.
One place to start this change is in your business. Not at all saying that you aren’t already inclusive. But now, more than ever, is the time to show your true colors.
Showing diversity in your brand tells people you care about humanity and each of your clients as individuals and not just a paycheck. If you care about people and not the endgame, more clients will choose you over others in your field and you will become more successful.
Showing diversity shows strength. It shows that your business welcomes teamwork and collaboration. This can help you in so many ways, like receiving advice from others who might know more than you or even getting a promotion from a big business.
Showing diversity can also help you get closer to your target audience. Your ideal clients are probably extremely diverse. Sure, you want to target mommy bloggers who are into an organic lifestyle. But you must understand that mommies like that do not just come in one color. Show diversity and your client base expands by the thousands.
Society as a whole is demanding equality and inclusion. We are going in the right direction, and by showing you are in support of this movement, you will show your client base that you truly are them, you walk with them, and that you understand how to serve them in the ways that they need to be served.
As humanity and the world continue to evolve, we will continue to become even more diverse. Showing that you can be inclusive is not only important, but a requirement in today’s world and in the future. Now is the time to cast prejudice aside. Now is the time to realize that the differences we see are what make us so strong as one whole.
